Information about RE/MAX Malta - one of the largest real estate agencies in Malta

Remax in Malta is a franchise of RE/MAX Europe which in turn is owned by the international company RE/MAX LLC.

RE/MAX LLC was founded in Colorado, USA, in 1973 by husband and wife team, Gail and Dave Liniger. Their concept was to
give agents nearly all their commission, and they would pay their broker a share of business expenses. This would
provide a solid base for a franchise business model and the first RE/MAX franchise opened in 1975.  Within two years,
there were 100 franchises. Today, RE/MAX has more than 7000 offices and more than 95,000 sales associates.

RE/MAX Europe was established in Vienna in 1994 by Frank Polzler and Walter Schneider and the Austrian capital is still
the HQ. More than 13,000 sales associates work for RE/MAX Europe in more than 35 countries.

RE/MAX came to Malta in 2004 thanks to brothers Kevin, Jeffrey and Joseph Buttigie and it was the first Maltese real
estate franchise to be established in the islands.

REMAX Employees

One of the interesting things about the operations of RE/MAX is the RE/MAX Academy. Set up in 2011, the academy runs the
company’s educational programme. Unlike other real estate companies where agents are generalists, although they may
concentrate on one particular niche, at RE/MAX the agents (known as associates) are specialists.  Each agent will focus
on specific markets, for example:

Buyer type – first-time buyer, second-time buyer, luxury market, retirees

Geography – a specific area of Malta or Gozo, or specific towns.

Property type – luxury villas, rental properties, houses of character

Rental properties for both landlords and tenants. This service includes advertising properties to rent, finding and
selecting tenants, and rental property administration.

Property sales for sellers and buyers with full market coverage from standard to high end and luxury properties.

Corporate sales and lettings of business premises. A specialist area focussed on finding the right property for business
offices. They also deal in finding, selling, or renting commercial properties such as retail premises, showrooms, and
factories.

Relocation services  for people moving into Malta from other countries or companies from other countries wanting to set
up a business in Malta

Property management services complement their letting services with plans tailor-made to suit individual landlords and
properties. The service is available to landlords in Malta and landlords who live abroad with properties in Malta.

Commission and Fees

Selling and buying fees are pretty much in line with other estate agents in Malta and that is around 5%.  For lettings,
again the fees are the Maltese average at half a month’s rent for long lets )over 6 months) and 10% for the total due in
the rental/lease period.
