Foundation and Company Background

Information about Luxfair - one of the fastest growing real estate companies in Malta

Founded in 2017, Luxfair Realty is a subsidiary company of the Ray Zammit Group, a group that boasts more than 40 years of experience in the world of real estate.

The founding member of the Luxfair Real Estate venture was Ray Zammit, the figurehead of the Ray Zammit Group since 1979. The group includes Luxfair Real Estate, Luxfair Developments, Luxfair Construction, and there are also notaries, architects, personnel, loans assistants and other professionals who can help in all the processes of the group’s operations.

Luxfair was formerly an associate of Chestertons and its current CEO is Derrick Macguire. In February 2020, Luxfair merged with 77 Great Estates. In the same month, Luxfair announced the opening of their first franchise which will be in Sliema. In June 2020, a further franchise was announced which is D Homes.

Luxfair has announced their intention to continue to expand through acquisitions, mergers, and more franchises.

The Branch Network

The head office and branch for both Luxfair and the newly merged 77 Great Estates is located on Testaferrata Street in Ta’ Xbiex. D Homes will continue to operate out of their existing premises in Birkirkara. The location of the new franchise in Sliema has not yet been announced.

Luxfair Employees

The exact number of Luxfair employees is unknown. LinkedIn estimates the number of employees before the merger and acquisitions at 11-50 and it is likely to be the lower end of that. 77 Great Estates brings at least 22 employees to the roll call. The number of employees at D Homes at the time of the enfranchisement was 8.

The Operation

Luxfair deal with real estate sales and lettings not only in Malta and Gozo, but also abroad. Thanks to a contact of Derrick Macguire, Luxfair is able to offer properties in the UK and Barbados and is also looking to expand into other countries.

Luxfair also offers a property management service and a consultancy service. Backed by the Zammit group, they are able to provide an end-to-end service in most areas of real estate in Malta and Gozo.  These services will also be provided by 77 Great Estates.

Luxfair and 77 Great Estates will also create a new department specialising in the administration of leased residential and commercial properties.

D homes will continue their existing operations under the stewardship of Jamie and Chris Dimech. They will deal with residential and commercial sales and lettings in Malta and Gozo, but thanks to the new association with Luxfair, will also be working with overseas properties.

D homes will also continue with the other lines of business which are turnkey projects, development projects, and an interior design business. These will tie in well with other arms of the Zammit Group, namely Luxfair Construction and Luxfair Developments.

Fees and Commissions

Whilst exact commission figures are not readily accessible online, it is fair to assume that Luxfair, 77 Great Estates, and D Homes will be in keeping with the traditional fee of 5% of a property sale. This is the standard commission across Maltese property activities.
